LAFC vs LA Galaxy Highlights

LAFC struggled with the rejuvenated LA Galaxy for a second time in phase one, this time at Banc of California Stadium. After giving the Galaxy the business in the MLS is Back Tournament, LAFC have conceded the Los Angeles crown in this fantastic rivalry, for the time being at least, losing 3-0.

Bradley Wright-Phillips nearly opened the scoring in the first half with a lovely dink over the keeper after getting sprung through behind the defense. Unfortunately he caught the woodwork and the two sides went into the half level.

The second half saw the rest of the action, with Pavon striking first in the 53rd minute on a looping ball over Sisniega after the keeper found himself in no man’s land. Almost immediately after that, Mark-Anthony Kaye went studs up on Araujo right in front of the referee, who pulled an immediate red card out of his pocket.

Ten men were simply not enough to come back against a Galaxy side that’s firing on all cylinders.

Sebastian Lletget scored an impressive brace to ice the game at 3-0, the first on a cleverly disguised free kick play, and the second on a gorgeous overhead scissor-kick that Sisniega just couldn’t get his hands on. Pavon nearly added a fourth for good measure in the dying moments of the game, but clipped the crossbar when he tried to chip Sisniega on the breakaway.

LAFC head to Salt Lake on Wednesday in need of a spark to face a side that has given them a lot of trouble in the past.
