LAFC vs LA Galaxy Highlights
The most recent edition of El Trafico didn’t live up to the typical hype, least of all for LAFC fans. To make matters worse, they lost Carlos Vela to a non-contact knee injury only 55 minutes into his return to the side after he opted out of the MLS is Back Tournament.
In their first match at Banc of California stadium since the season was indefinitely postponed back in March, LAFC appeared to be desperately missing the home supporters they so famously feed off. Their lackluster performance was uninspired at best and a defensive abomination at worst.
LAFC came out strong, but the Galaxy quickly asserted themselves with a goal from a corner. Nearly every LAFC player switched off when the ball was played short, and Julian Araujo swung a ball in that found five unmarked Galaxy attackers on the back post. Ethan Zubak headed it into the back of the net to put the visitors up 1-0.
The second half saw more of the same. LAFC completely switched off again in the 54th minute when Araujo found Sebastian Lletget completely unmarked in the box for an easy tap in.
And then Carlos Vela went down.
The home side were fortunate not to concede at least one more time, and did precious little to show they might have pulled even one back before the final whistle.
Bob Bradley is now left with nothing but questions ahead of the next match, a trip to Real Salt Lake on Wednesday. The LA Galaxy welcome Seattle for their first home match of the regular season restart.
