LAFC VS LA Galaxy Highlights – MLS is Back Tournament

El Trafico never ceases to deliver, but this time the reason was a little different.

LAFC downed their crosstown rivals, the Chicharito-less LA Galaxy, on Saturday night by a scoreline you won’t see often in a soccer match: 6-2. Diego Rossi single-handedly accounted for four of those, two in each half, plus assisted on a fifth.

LAFC have never shied away from a high-scoring affair, especially against the Galaxy. But incredibly this is the first time LAFC have come away from a regular season El Trafico victorious.

The first half began rocky for the Black and Gold, and they gave up an own goal off Blessing’s foot in the opening minutes. Rossi pulled one back quickly, but they conceded a penalty not long after that Pavon buried. Rossi snagged one just before the half to send them to the dressing room on level terms.

Then the fireworks began. Or at least they would have under non-pandemic circumstances.

Wright-Phillips opened up the scoring in the second half to get his second in two games for LAFC. Rossi and El-Munir scored back-to-back goals to effectively end the night for the Galaxy, before Rossi snuck his fourth home in the dying moments of the night.

The resounding win puts LAFC solely in second place in their group, behind Portland’s two wins. The Galaxy, on the other hand, have lost their first two matches and are almost certainly heading home early.

Both teams round out the group stage on Thursday, July 23. LAFC play Portland in hopes of securing their spot in the knockout rounds. The Galaxy play Houston still looking for their first win of 2020.
