LAFC vs LA Galaxy Highlights

In one of the most entertaining games of this season, the second episode of El Trafico was held on Saturday when LA Galaxy came to visit LAFC at Banc of California Stadium. Newcomer Dejan Joveljic made a strong start for the Galaxy, scoring a brace and assisting on the other two goals, while Cristian Arango also scored with a first-half penalty kick. The two Southern California teams played a high-scoring match that resulted in a 3-3 draw.

Joveljic scored the first goal around the 20th minute where he jumped on a loose ball and chipped it past goalkeeper Tomas Romero. LAFC scored in the 43rd minute after a penalty-kick call when Niko Hämäläinen was caught tugging down Arango in front of the goal. Arango then struck it off the right post and past Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Bond for the penalty kick, tying the game 1-1.

The pace of the game elevated right at the beginning of the second half, as Bond tipped a shot for a save in the 46th minute. Just 6 minutes later, Romero saved a header by Kevin Cabral. Things only got crazier.

The next three goals were scored at 58’, 64’, and 66’. Just before the hour mark, Brian Rodriguez gave LAFC the lead with a beautiful go-ahead goal. Joveljic equalized for LA Galaxy just five minutes later with a brilliant strike to the far post from inside the box. The lead turned out brief as Rodriguez got his brace three minutes later with a rebound finish after Bond made another clutch save on Diego Palacios’ strike.

Los Angeles FC came within minutes of ending their six-game losing streak thanks to a brace from Rodriguez, but Cabral’s late game heroics prevented them from winning where he jumped on a cross by Julian Araujo and tied the game back at 3-3. A breakout performance by the Uruguayan winger.

The next matchup for LAFC will be played on Friday, September 3 against Sporting Kansas City.
