LAFC vs Inter Miami CF Highlights
In a 2-0 shutout for the Black & Gold in the LAFC vs Inter Miami CF match, Kwadwo Opoku and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi each had their first score of the early season during the second half at DRV PNK Stadium. LAFC are now 2-0-1 with 7 points to start the undefeated 2022 regular season.
After sitting out the second half of last week’s game against the Portland Timbers, Carlos Vela was able to play for 70 minutes. His pass to Opoku’s 44’ goal was slightly deflected but Opoku maintained control within the box to drive through defender Damion Lowe and finish at the back of the net past Inter Miami CF goalkeeper Clement Diop.
Just two minutes later, Inter Miami CF’s Brek Shea added to Miami’s woes. The veteran defender was shown a red card for a foul on Brian Rodríguez, leaving his team with only 10 players for the rest of the match. The Herons have been shutout twice this 2022 season and have started slow yet again, reminiscent of last season where they went winless in their first seven matches with five losses and two draws.
LAFC stayed in control in the second half and extended the lead to 2-0 when Tajouri-Shradi scored a free kick from the left wing at the 82’. The ball nestled into the far left corner and went untouched as it passed Diop who was caught off guard.
We’re thankful Vela’s injury from last week wasn’t too serious. Though not on the scoreboard, midfielder Ilie Sánchez had a great game setting up the tempo against The Herons. LAFC will face off against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, March 20.
