Veteran Ilie Sánchez selected in Week 3 MLS Team of the Week
Los Angeles FC’s Ilie Sánchez was named to the Week 3 MLS Team of the Week after a shutout 2-0 win versus Inter Miami CF on Saturday, March 12. The veteran midfielder has been settling in just beautifully in his brief time with the Black & Gold.
So far this 2022 season, the 31-year-old Spanish footballer has played every minute for LAFC (2-0-1). The triumph over The Herons was their first away game in 2022 with goals from Kwadwo Opoku and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi. Sanchez had his best passing percentage of the season in the game with an impressive 87.1%.
He also has made a key pass in each of his three matches. Overall, Sánchez is off to a strong start and certainly appears to suit the new LAFC system under Steve Cherundolo. Congrats Ilie!
