LAFC signs forward Cristian Olivera from Ud Almeria

Announced today, LAFC signs forward Cristian Olivera to a four-year contract throughout 2026 with a Club options through 2027. The deal was done before  to the closing of MLS’ Secondary Transfer Window

Olivera played in UD Almeria of Spain’s La Liga and now joins the Black and Gold as part of the MLS’ U22 Initiative. The 21 year old will use an international roster spot while waiting for receipt of his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

LAFC also acquired Olivera’s Discovery Priority from the Minnesota United FC in exchange for $175,000 of 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM).

Olivera played for Boston River of Uruguay’s top division in 2022 and 2023 while on loan from Almeria. He played in 32 games while starting in 30, and scored nine goals in 2,638 minutes. The Uruguayan played in three games for Boston River in the 2023 Copa Libertadores, recording an assist against Zamora FC.

As LAFC signs forward Cristian Olivera, the forward becomes another LAFC signing within the summer window after acquiring forward Mario González, midfielder Filip Krastev, and re-signing defender Eddie Segura. We expect Olivera to gel well with Dénis Bouanga, Carlos Vela and Stipe Biuk on the attack.
