LAFC vs FC Juárez Highlights – August 2, 2023
Reaching a club record, the Black and Gold scored seven goals on Wednesday in the LAFC vs FC Juárez game for the inaugural Leagues Cup match at BMO Stadium. Denis Bouanga recorded a hat trick and even recorded an assist for Carlos Vela who scored a brace.
There were so many LAFC vs FC Juárez highlights to cover, where do we even begin? Ryan Hollingshead drew first blood going into the 31st minute of the match. Credit actually goes to Kellyn Acosta who sent a right-footed shot into the back of Hollinghead that ricocheted straight into the back of the net past Juárez goalkeeper Ramon Pasquel.
Just a minute following their first score, Vela doubled LAFC’s lead with a left-footed lob shot over the head of Pasquel and inside the far post. FC Juárez came into the second half guns blazing and got onto the board under 2 minutes in after Amaury Escoto followed up a corner kick play while being at the right spot at the right time.
Bouanga scored his first goal in the 52nd minute after his initial attempt was blocked by Pasquel. Vela added salt to FCJ’s wound only eight minutes after with a shot two yards out from the penalty arc. The LAFC vs FC Juárez highlights kept rolling as Bouanga secured his brace in the 66’ with an open look on a play that was almost called offside.
LAFC received a penalty kick after Diego Palacios got tackled by Luis Rodríguez and Bouanga finished up with another one past Pasquel once again. These two will never be friends. The final nail on the coffin was drilled by Nathan Ordaz who came off the bench to score his very first goal for the Black and Gold. Credit to Bouanga for the assist.
In addition to setting a club record, LAFC broke the previous mark of five, which had only been achieved three times prior. LAFC now advances to the Leagues Cup Round of 16 where they will match up against the winner of the Club León vs Real Salt Lake.
