LAFC acquires midfielder Filip Krastev from Lommel SK
Announced today, LAFC acquires midfielder Filip Krastev on loan from Lommel SK of the Belgian Challenger Pro League throughout June 2024. There’s a permanent transfer option in the loan arrangement. As soon as the Club receives Krastev’s P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC), he will be added to the Club’s roster.
“Filip is an incredibly talented midfielder whose dynamic qualities and technical ability fit well within our game model”, said LAFC Co-President and GM John Thorrington as LAFC acquires midfielder Filip Krastev. “We are excited to welcome Filip to LAFC as he takes the next step of what I am confident will be a successful career.”
The 21 year old Krastev joins LAFC after spending the previous two years on loan from Lommel SK with Levski Sofia of the Bulgarian First League. Krastev played 56 games with 42 starts with Levski Sofia between 2021 and 2023, recording 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.
A native of Sofia, Bulgaria, Krastev made his debut for the Bulgarian National Team on September 6, 2020, and has already made 11 senior-level appearances. He played in six 2022 UEFA Nations League games and three 2020 UEFA Euro Qualifiers while recording one assist in each contest. From the U-16 through the U-21 levels, Krastev competed for Bulgaria in numerous events.
Krastev moved permanently to Lommel SK prior to the 2020–21 season, but was loaned back to Slavia Sofia for that year. Then, Lommel loaned him to Troyes of French League 2. With Troyes, Krastev played two games with Troyes, helping them clinch promotion to French League 1 before moving to SC Cambuur of the Dutch Eredivsie for loan in 2021 to 2022. There, the Bulgarian played in five games and scored one goal.
As LAFC acquires midfielder Filip Krastev, we expect Fufu to make an immediate impact and take control of the midfield.
