LAFC vs Seattle Sounders FC Highlights
The Black & Gold came up big Tuesday night as the matchup between LAFC vs Seattle Sounders FC resulted in a 3-0 win along with 3 points for LAFC in the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs race. The victory was led by goals from Brian Rodríguez, Latif Blessing, and of course, Cristian Arango.
In the 21st minute, Rodríguez was able to connect on a pass from Raheem Edwards and shot through the legs of Sounders’ goalkeeper Stefan Frei. This goal was Rodríguez‘s third goal of the season.
To extend the lead, Blessing was able to capitalize on a deflected cross by Kim Moon-Hwan at the 45’. It all worked out as Kim looked to cross the ball toward the box but was deflected off the backs of Arango and Sounders’ Nouhou Tolo. Blessin’s reaction time was perfect as he soared toward the ball and kicked right past Frei for the heartbreak.
Of course, the game wouldn’t end without a goal from Arango who was able to launch one at 51’ from afar for a distant goal. The Columbian now has 13 goals and two assists in his first 15 games with LAFC.
LAFC played like their playoff lives were on the line, as they were. With the loss, Seattle has now given up three of their last four matches and can lose their position as number one in the Western Conference. The Los Angeles FC still have work to do to claim a postseason berth after an inconsistent season, but this result at least gives them a shot.
The Vancouver Whitecaps are next up on Tuesday, November 2. It will be LAFC’s last home game for the season.
