LAFC vs Minnesota United FC Highlights

On Saturday night, the LAFC vs Minnesota United FC matchup at Allianz Field ended in a 1-1 draw. Cristian Arango continued to show why he was voted MLS Player of the Week in Week 31 as he scored his 12th goal in 14 matches (and 6th in the last 3) since joining LAFC back in August.

Both teams were fighting for the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoff contention in the Western Conference but the draw didn’t help out either team. Minnesota United FC finished the night in 6th place while LAFC finished in 9th.

At 31’, Minnesota’s midfielder Wil Trapp was handed a yellow card for a foul which gave LAFC (and Arango) an opportunity for a free kick. Arango kicked a perfect shot that flew through the legs of Loons’ goalkeeper Tyler Miller. With a 1-0 lead, the Black & Gold was in control of the match until the 65’.

As Loons’ Emanuel Reynoso was on a fast break, LAFC defender Jesus David Murillo caught his legs from underneath, costing them a yellow card and a free kick. Reynoso shot toward LAFC goalkeeper Jamal Blackmon who saved and knocked the ball left. On the ricochet, Loons’ captain Osvaldo Alonso took a shot toward the left post for an equalizer.

With the stalemate, Minnesota United FC dropped two points while LAFC only gained 1 point. The Los Angeles Football Club will face the Seattle Sounders at home on Tuesday, October 26 for their next matchup at Banc of California Stadium.
