LAFC vs Seattle Sounders Highlights – March 18, 2023
In a great defensive effort from both clubs, the 15th LAFC vs Seattle Sounders matchup in MLS history resulted in a 0-0 tie and kept the Black and Gold undefeated with a 2-0-1 record as they took on their first road trip for the 2023 MLS season.
The Sounders completed their CONCACAF Champions League title win last May, so this game was no easy task for LAFC, as they saw a good number of opportunities to score but just couldn’t finish at the net. Throughout the match, Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei recorded seven saves while LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy tallied up four.
At the 23rd minute mark, Sounders’ Albert Rusnak almost shot in a laser but the ball hit out from the right post. This was as close as Seattle would get on the scoreboard, as they finished the half with six scoreless shots to LAFC’s four.
Seattle also came out in the second half guns blazing, and looked as if they had the momentum in their favor, but McCarthy and LAFC’s defense put them to a stop. The Black and Gold saw a very great look in the 89th minute where Denis Bouanga found Kwadwo Opoku well within the goal area but the ball ricocheted off his foot and over the bar and into the crowd.
Now with an all-time record of 6-5-4 against the Sounders, LAFC stay on the plus side and will travel back home to BMO Stadium to face off against FC Dallas on Saturday, March 25.
