LAFC vs San Jose Earthquakes Highlights – July 8, 2023

In a 1-1 comeback tie, the LAFC vs San Jose Earthquakes match earned the Black and Gold a point as Dénis Bouanga scored the equalizer in the first half. LAFC are now in third place in the Western Conference.

The Quakes went first on the board midway through the half when midfielder Cristian Espinoza shook LAFC’s Mamadou Fall on an left-footed 18-yard goal in the 30th minute. The goal was Espinzoa’s third over the last three games against LAFC this season.

Bouanga answered back just minutes after on a penalty kick after getting tripped up by Rodrigues in the box. The French winger earned his 12th goal of the season, and his second in the last four contests. San Jose has now allowed a league-high six PKs in 2023.

Quakes goalkeeper Daniel was handed a red card for a handball in the 56th minute after cutting off LAFC’s Mateusz Bogusz on a breakaway. San Jose defender Paul Marie was removed from the field to make room for JT Marcinkowski as the backup goalkeeper. Marcinkowski then made some big saves for his team, including a crucial one against Carlos Vela in the 82’.

The draw ends LAFC’s three-game losing streak that began with their home loss against Vancouver on June 24. In their final matchup of the season, LAFC finished 1-1-1 against San Jose, with both teams scoring four goals throughout all contests.

LAFc will host Western Conference leaders St. Louis City SC on Wednesday, July 12.
