LAFC vs Real Salt Lake – March 2, 2023

The snowy LAFC vs Real Salt Lake game on Saturday afternoon ended in a 3-0 loss for the Black and Gold as RSL goalkeeper Zac MacMath recorded his 61st MLS career shutout. Along with his new teammates, former LAFC forward Chicho Arango put all three points on LAFC within the first half.

Initially postponed by heavy wind, the game was stopped once more due to lightning just 3 minutes in. The near hour break of the snowstorm then covered the field at America First Field. When the match resumed, RSL’s Andres Gómez secured a brace. The Colombian winger’s first score came in the 18th minute of the match as he drilled one past LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Gómez then chipped in another goal in the 42nd minute. Chicho then got his share in the fifth minute of the first half stoppage on an assist by Gómez who crossed the ball toward the net as Arango slid with a right-footer past Lloris. Gladly that was all she wrote as the bleeding ended following halftime.
