LAFC vs Colorado Rapids Highlights – April 1, 2023

In a 0-0 tie, the LAFC vs Colorado Rapids match at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night kept the Black and Gold undefeated for the season. LAFC’s record is now 3-0-2 with 11 points while sitting in third place in the Western Conference. The Rapids are still in search of their first victory.

LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy recorded his third shutout this 2023 MLS season and made four saves out of Colorado’s 14 shot attempts. Rapids goalkeeper William Yarbrough recorded two saves from LAFC’s 11 shot attempts.

Five of the final six shots of the first half were made by Colorado. Although McCarthy had his work cut out for him by the start of the second half, none of the Rapids’ shots in the first half were at the net, thus he was not required to make a save.

Later on, Aaron Long of LAFC was given a yellow card for a foul but the Rapids were unable to capitalize on it. In the 87th minute, Rapids forward Michael Barrios received a yellow card as well when tripping up LAFC’s Kellyn Acosta. LAFC also weren’t able to capitalize as the game was left scoreless following Dénis Bouanga’s attempt at the goal.

The 90-plus minute game came to an end as neither team were able to convert on the offensive end. With the tie, LAFC is now one of three teams yet to lose this season along with Minnesota United and FC Cincinnati. This marks the fourth instance in LAFC’s six-year history where they’ve remained undefeated after the first five games of the season.

The Black and Gold will travel to BC Place to play against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday, April 5.
