LAFC vs Charlotte FC – August 26, 2023

The four game winning streak came to an end as the Black and Gold came up short in the 2-1 LAFC vs Charlotte FC matchup on Saturday at Bank of America Stadium.

Charlotte took the lead midway through the first half due to a goal from Ashley Westwood in the 29th minute, the only shot attempted by The Crown’s midfielder. Westwood’s right footed shot sailed from the center of the box to the top right corner of the net past LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy

In response, LAFC forward Mario Gonzalez scored his very first MLS goal in the second half during the 67th minute. Denis Bouanga found the youngster right as he cruised to the center of the box to make the play on the equalizer right through CLT goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina.

With a record of 11-7-7 and 40 points, LAFC is still in second place in the MLS Western Conference and at eight overall. On Sunday, September 3, the Black and Gold will resume play when Inter Miami CF comes to BMO Stadium. The two clubs will be meeting for their third time in history, with LAFC winning both of their previous games, defeating Miami 1-0 at home in 2020 and 2-0 in Miami in 2022.
