LAFC vs Nashville SC – April 22, 2023

The Black and Gold once again remain undefeated following the LAFC vs Nashville SC matchup on Saturday night at GEODIS Park. Denis Bouanga was able to score the game tying equalizer during the 59th minute in an amazing effort to keep LAFC as the only unbeaten club this 2023 MLS season.

Surprisingly, LAFC were trailing for the very first time this season after Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar scored from the top of the penalty box in the 35th minute. The goal was the reigning MLS MVP’s third score so far this season.

The remainder of the game seemed to weigh more on the defensive end as Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis finished the night with five saves. His goal to Bouanga was due to a turnover at midfield which allowed Bouanga the opportunity to dribble down the field without any pressure for a right-footed strike into the back right corner of the net.

Both clubs had plenty of opportunities to take the lead as both Bouanga and Willis continued to create some good looks, but the match eventually resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Some key notes of the game feature LAFC’s club record of (5-0-3) which is the franchise’s record for the best start to a season. In the last 20 years, LAFC is the only team to have gone undefeated through their first seven games over multiple seasons.

LAFC midfielder Erik Dueñas made his first team debut for the club, making him the second homegrown player in the club’s history to do so.

Starting off the first leg of the Concacaf Champions League Semifinals, LAFC will travel to Subaru Park on Wednesday, April 26 to face off against the Philadelphia Union.
