LAFC vs Sporting Kansas City Highlights

It’s safe to say the Wizards were technically scoreless in the LAFC vs Sporting Kansas City match on Sunday afternoon as LAFC scored all four goals of the game at Banc of California Stadium. After an own goal by left back Diego Palacios in the first half, the Black & Gold continued their dominance with three scores of their own to finish in a 3-1 victory.

Sporting KC took a 1-0 lead after SKC’s Johnny Russell retrieved a turnover in the LAFC attacking area and took it all the way for a score in the 38th minute. His shot deflected off Palacios and right past LAFC goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau.

Cristian Arango scored his second goal in the past two games in the 44th minute following a free kick that hit the goalpost and ricocheted all the way back to Palacios. A long cross from Palacios gave Mamadou Fall a good look pass to Arango who scored on a 2-yard header through SKC’s Tim Melia. It was perfect positioning by Arango on the play.

LAFC extended the lead in the 70’ on another Palacios assist which led to winger Ismael Tajouri-Shradi launching a left-footed strike over the head of Melia to give the Black & Gold a 2-1 cushion. Just eight minutes later, LAFC scored once again as Jose Cifuentes battled through traffic and rallied in another goal to bring the lead to 3-1.

Such a strong statement victory for LAFC as they are now 5-1-1 with 16 points leading in the Western Conference. To put things into perspective, LAFC was 3 for 3 with shots on target that day. Steve Cherundolo’s first year with the club is looking spectacular.

The Los Angeles Football Club will stay at home for their upcoming match against Orange County SC for the U.S. Open Cup 3rd Round on Wednesday, April 20.
