LAFC vs Sporting Kansas City Highlights

With an outside chance to play their way directly into the Western Conference semifinals heading into Deadline Day, LAFC lost their final match of the regular season to Sporting Kansas City 2-1.

They will now have to play their way through the knockout round.

Sporting Kansas City came out firing with number of early chances before taking a deserved lead in the 37th minute off a left-footed screamer from Roger Espinoza that smashed it’s way into the top right corner.

In the second half LAFC went level after a goal line block by Seth Sinovic was ruled a hand ball. Sinovic was sent off for preventing a goal scoring opportunity and Carlos Vela calmly slotted the resulting penalty into the back of the net in the 63rd minute.

But Sporting found a winner only a few minutes later on cool finish from Salloi.

LAFC will now face off against Real Salt Lake in the club’s first ever MLS playoff game at Banc of California Stadium on Thursday.
