LAFC vs New England Revolution Highlights

In a 4-0 shutout win, the Black and Gold finished a flawless game in the LAFC vs New England Revolution matchup on Sunday night at home. LAFC winger Denis Bouanga scored his first two goals of the early season and kept the club’s perfect 2023 record ongoing.

Denis Bouanga scored from the penalty box for LAFC in the 14th minute to break New England Revolution’s season opening shutout streak of 194 minutes. Although New England kept the game tight overall, Bouanga’s brace during the 67th minute was a clear indication of the game’s narrative.

Bouanga also became the second player to score a penalty for LAFC this season, next to Carlos Vela who was not in Sunday’s starting lineup.

Midfielder Latif Blessing made his first trip back to Los Angeles after joining New England earlier this year. Blessing made his second start for the Revolution and won a team high 10 duels. New England goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic collected eight saves for his club.

Thanks to some starter adjustments by head coach Steve Cherundolo, both Timothy Tillmand and Stipe Biuk were able to record their first MLS career goals. The first of the two came in a quick flash as Tillman rushed past Blessing to take possession of the ball and then drilled one past Petrovic.

Then in stoppage time, Bouanga found Biuk who shot the ball right into the hands of Petrovic, but the ball crossed the line and awarded LAFC their fourth score of the game.

Nothing more to ask than a complete shutout by the Black and Gold. The club will travel to face the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, March 18.
