LAFC vs NYCFC Highlights
LAFC travelled to New York to face NYCFC at Yankee Stadium on Sunday afternoon. In a tough battle the visitors managed to scrap out a hard-earned 2-2 draw.
NYCFC took the lead in the 39th minute when Alexandru Mitriță used his speed to evade a tackle and broke free up the sideline. After drawing three more defenders inside the box, he cut back to his favored right and smashed the ball home.
After that the game opened up. Carlos Vela slotted his second goal of the season on a counterattack just before the half.
NYCFC reclaimed the lead early in the second half off a goal from Alexander Ring. But a clumsy tackle in the box on Blessing gave Vela a chance to equal from the penalty spot. He coolly delivered for his second of the match, securing the draw for LAFC.
LAFC now head home to try to settle the score with Real Salt Lake, who eliminated them from last year’s playoffs.
