Promoting mental health and wellness, LAFC partners with CalHOPE
Announced today, LAFC partners with CalHOPE in an effort to raise awareness and provide access to services that support mental health and wellness.
Building community resiliency and assisting people in recovering from disasters and public health emergencies are the “goals” of LAFC and CalHOPE, a statewide mental health and wellness campaign supported by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). This is done through free outreach, crisis counseling, and support services.
Services include individual and group crisis counseling and support, individual and public education, community networking and support, connection to resources, media, and public service announcements.
“LAFC is very closely aligned with CalHOPE in our shared mission of being a ‘Force for Good’ in our collective communities,” said LAFC Co-President and CBO Larry Freedman as LAFC partners with CalHOPE. “We are pleased to be able to serve our community by offering vital support and resources during trying times, and we hope that individuals and families feel supported and inspired to take advantage of CalHOPE’s impactful services.”
“CalHOPE is honored to partner with LAFC to raise awareness in Southern California of vital mental health and wellness resources,” said Deputy Director of DHCS’ Office of Strategic Partnerships. “We look forward to helping deliver these resources and messages of hope to those in need. CalHOPE and LAFC together can help fans navigate the mental well-being challenges they face by reducing stigma and making it ok to ask for help when you need it.”
As LAFC partners with CalHOPE, fans will be exposed to CalHOPE’s messages throughout the LAFC season, including on game days and through exclusive content on LAFC platforms. Fans can expect to see LAFC and CalHOPE involved at LAFC Academy events and LAFC SoCal Youth activities.
