LAFC vs San Jose Earthquakes Highlights

Looks like the thirteen day break was needed as the LAFC vs San Jose Earthquakes match ended in a 3-1 victory for the Black & Gold. Cristian Arango scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season and got his first MLS assist. Finally, the playoff hopes look a bit better now as the Los Angeles FC pulled within a point of the seventh and last Western Conference spot in the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Thanks to LAFC’s strong attack just 3 minutes into the game, Danny Musovski was able to get his fourth goal of the season early off Arango’s sweet assist off his back heel. Arango almost had a score thirteen minutes later but was called offsides.

Near the 28’, Arango went down on a trip by Quakes midfielder Judson Silva Tavares. For his PK, Arango went for a slow run up and shot right through Quakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski near the left post to put the LAFC up 2-0.

The San Jose Quakes wouldn’t go away quietly as forward Carlos Fierro showed up for his first goal of the year at the 61 minute mark while bouncing it off his belly from a corner kick. Arango was able to secure his brace late in the game on a smooth off a smoother assist by Brian Rodríguez in the 88’.

This gave the Quakes their third consecutive loss while LAFC won their first game since the middle of September. The LA Galaxy, Minnesota United FC, Real Salt Lake, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC are all scheduled to play this weekend in Week 30 of the MLS. They are all within two points of LAFC in a tightly packed Western Conference table.

Next in line are FC Dallas on Wednesday, October 20 at Toyota Stadium.
