LAFC vs Portland Timbers Highlights

On Tuesday night, the LAFC vs Portland Timbers match at Banc of California Stadium kept the Black and Gold lossless streak alive as the Los Angeles Football Club beat the Portland Timbers 2-0 and advance to the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16. Cristian Arango and Mamadou Fall scored either side of each half, and Maxime Crépeau recorded a clean sheet with six saves.

Chicho Arango got on the end of a Kwadwo Opoku cross in the 32nd minute and skillfully flicked it past the Portland Timber goalkeeper David Bingham at the near post. In the 54th minute with the 1-0 lead for LAFC, Mamadou Fall extended the lead to 2-0 connecting on a corner kick. This was the second goal of the season for Fall and his first ever in the Open Cup.

Dating back to the 2021 season, LAFC have not lost in their last 11 games at home, going 8-0-3 within that timespan. LAFC are now 9-1-2 in all matches this season, with a home record of 6-0-2 at Banc of California Stadium.

In each of their three appearances in the US Open Cup, LAFC has advanced to the Round of 16. The club reached the competition’s semifinals in 2018 and quarterfinals in 2019. The Open Cup was not held last season or in 2020.

The Black & Gold will again this week on Saturday, May 14 as they travel to face off against the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The game will be broadcasted nationwide on Univision and TUDN, as well as locally on ESPN 710 AM and 980 AM La Mera Mera at 12:30 p.m. PT.
