LAFC vs Orlando City SC Highlights

Under the rain, the Black & Gold were able to contain their win streak in the LAFC vs Orlando City SC match at Exploria Stadium. LAFC were able to hold off The Lions in a 4-2 victory thanks to a team effort that exposed the weakness of Orlando’s defense.

Early on in the 24th minute, Brian Rodriguez scored LAFC’s first goal of the game off a long ball cross from Christian Arango. Shortly after Orlando City SC was able to equalize the match due to Alexandre Pato’s volley in the 36’ off of some good ball movement between midfielder Mauricio Pereyra and forward Ercan Kara.

Just two minutes after Pato’s goal, LAFC answered back immediately when defender Jesus David Murillo knocked in an easy score past goalkeeper Pedro Gallese following a misplaced header from Orlando’s Ruan Gregório Teixeira. Right before halftime, former 2018 LAFC defender João Moutinho leveled the score once again on an open shot from the left side of the box. This was Moutinho’s second career goal against his former team, and third overall in his MLS career.

During the second half of the match, LAFC shut out The Lions by taking the lead in the 51st minute thanks to Ilie Sanchez and then another score during stoppage time by Kwadwo Opoku. Throughout the rain, Sanchez’s vision helped LAFC win all three points for the match and are now sitting first in the Western Conference with 13 points.

Next up is the first rivalry match of El Tráfico, where the Los Angeles Football Club will face up against the Los Angeles Galaxy

With a 4W-0L-1D start to the 2022 season, the Black & Gold have remained unbeaten and will try to build on their strong start playing their first rivalry match of El Tráfico, where the Los Angeles Football Club will face the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday, April 9 at Dignity Health Sports Park.
