LAFC vs Minnesota United FC – May 29, 2024
In their second showdown of the 2024 season, the LAFC vs Minnesota United FC midweek matchup on Wednesday at BMO Stadium went in the way of the Black and Gold as LAFC defeated The Loons with a 2-0 shutout. Way to get back at Minnesota as they kept LAFC scoreless in their previous game at Saint Paul.
Denis Bouanga scored his 50th career goal for LAFC while Mateusz Bogusz stayed hot with a score of his own. Bougsz now has recorded either a goal or an assist over the last four games, all of which LAFC have come out victorious.
Bouanga got knocked down in the 37th minute of the match when Minnesota United’s D.J. Taylor bumped into the winger from the back near the corner of the goal area. Bouanga then succeeded on his penalty kick against MNUFC goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair.

In the second half, it was Bogusz’ turn to put on a show as the midfielder struck an incredible right-footed goal all the way out about 10 yards from the penalty arc. The ball soared over St. Clair and doubled LAFC’s lead, putting them up 2-0 against The Loons. Bogusz now has scored three goals over the past four competitions and has six goals this 2024 MLS season.
With the win, LAFC gained three points and kept their winning streak to six wins. Now sitting in third place in the Western Conference, the road to the 2024 Supporter’s Shield is getting closer and closer. Adding to an already mind-blowing record, the Black and Gold extended their minutes of shutout play to 485 minutes across all competitions.
On short rest, LAFC will host FC Dallas this upcoming Saturday on June 1st.
