LAFC vs Minnesota United FC Highlights

After a scoreless first half, the last eight minutes of the LAFC vs Minnesota United FC match ended with two goals from the Black and Gold. Both Ryan Hollingshead and Jose Cifuentes had a score each on Sunday night at Banc of California Stadium, and now LAFC have won three games in a row.

Minnesota United FC had a great opportunity to score early on in the second half with midfielder Robin Lod open on a clear shot. His strike flew high right past LAFC goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau and over the net. Good effort on Crépeau’s end as he tried to pressure Lod by chasing up to the ball.

LAFC had an open look of their own at the 51st minute of the match when Cristian Arango shot off the post which gave forward Kwadwo Opoku an almost guaranteed score. Like Lod, Opoku also kicked the ball high on his follow up.

Hollingshead was substituted in for Franco Escobar in the 74th minute and converted the first goal of the match with a spinning strike from the edge of the box. Danny Musovski delivered a corner kick in front of The Loons’ goal while Hollingshead jumped in on the loose ball for his third goal this season.

In the same spot, Cifuentes was able to come off the bench to score in the 90th minute off a pass from Diego Palacios. This marked Palacios’ second goal of the 2022 MLS season. This was also the seventh and eighth time this season where a LAFC player came off the bench and scored. As of Week 9, only three MLS teams have even scored eight or fewer goals this season.

Next in line to face off the Black and Gold are the Philadelphia Union who will be visiting Banc of California Stadium on Saturday, May 7. LAFC continue to lead the MLS Western Conference along with the Supporters Shield standings with a record of 7-1-1 and 22 points.
