LAFC vs LA Galaxy Highlights

Snapping a four-game losing streak, the Black and Gold came out on top after the third LAFC vs LA Galaxy match of the season. With a brace from José Cifuentes and two assists from Carlos Vela, LAFC defeated LA Galaxy 3-2 in the latest episode of El Tráfico.

LAFC started off by drawing first blood on LA Galaxy during the 17th minute when Cifu headed in a corner kick. Less than three minutes afterward, Galaxy forward Dejan Joveljic was in line to equalize the match but LAFC’s Maxime Crépeau was able to tap Joveljic’s shot with his left hand. The Canadian goalkeeper finished the match with 4 saves, 10 goal kicks, and 2 goals conceded—one to Samuel Grandsir and the other to Rayan Raveloson.

The Black and Gold held onto the lead through halftime, but the momentum took a shift in the second half when Grandsir scored to tie the game up in the 55th minute. The goal was Grandsir’s first of the season and the first of his last 28 games. How ironic, his last goal occurred last October and was also against LAFC.

Moments later, Cifu answered back and secured his brace in the 70th minute with another sharp header to bring LAFC up with a 2-1 lead. Running on pure adrenaline, the Black and Gold scored their third goal of the match just 2 minutes after Cifu’s brace when Vela found Chicho Arango up the middle. Arango took a shot to the far post past Jonathan Bond, who ended the night with 2 saves, 10 goal kicks, and 3 goals conceded.

A late goal by Raveloson in the 81” gave LA Galaxy some life toward the end of the match, but LAFC were able to hold the 3-2 lead and shine bright with the Friday night lights. The Black and Gold are still in first place in the MLS standings with a 12-4-3 record, a 8-1-2 home record, and 39 points.

Next Sunday, LAFC will play against Nashville SC at GEODIS Park.
