LAFC vs LA Galaxy Highlights

The latest and last episode of El Tráfico for the season occurred on Sunday where the LAFC vs LA Galaxy battle of Los Angeles ended in a 1-1 draw. The Los Angeles FC were still trying to find their first win at Dignity Health Sports Park and held a record of 0W-4L-2D at their neighbor’s stadium.

The Los Angeles Galaxy were competing to retain their low playoff spot while the LAFC were right under the Minnesota United FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps and were fighting to clinch the last seed. A win or draw for the Black & Gold would hand the Galaxy their 10th winless game, tracing all the way back to August 14 where they defeated the Minnesota United FC.

11 minutes into the first half, a header by Mamadou Fall gave LAFC an early lead as he caught a corner kick by midfielder Eduard Atuesta and launched it right past Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Bond. The lead would not last too long as Galaxy forward Samuel Grandsir answered right back just 8 minutes later in the 19’ with a clean look as LAFC goalkeeper Jamal Blackman rushed up to Grandsir but wasn’t able to block the shot.

That was pretty much all she wrote for the match as both sides were unable to capitalize their opportunities for the rest of the game. As a result, the LA Galaxy accomplished just enough to tie for fifth place with Real Salt Lake, but they are still in 6th place by goal differential. LAFC now holds 9th place, four points outside playoff contention.

There will be a 13-day break until the next game where the San Jose Earthquakes come to visit on Saturday, October 16 at Banc of California Stadium.
