LAFC vs FC Dallas – September 21, 2024
The Black and Gold traveled to Texas on short rest only to come up even shorter in the LAFC vs FC Dallas match on Saturday. In what would have clinched LAFC’s third consecutive playoff berth, the Black and Gold suffered a 3-1 loss due to FC Dallas forward Logan Farrington sealing the deal with both a goal and an assist in the second half.
Dallas’ Peter Musa stole the ball when LAFC’s Eddie Segura attempted a backfield pass to Edrard Atuesta and then proceeded to take a right-footed shot through LAFC goalkeeper Thomas Hasal and to the far post to put his team up 1-0 in the 28th minute of the match. With Hugo Lloris on rest, Hasal made his debut for LAFC in this game and recorded four saves.
In the second half it was Patrickson Delgado who doubled the lead with a shot from the top of the box, then only two minutes following, Jesús Ferreira found Farrington cutting through the box for a contested shot in between three Black and Gold jerseys to put FC Dallas up 3-0 at the 62 minute mark.
Later on, Atuesta was able to score LAFC’s lone goal of the game before clock was drained, marking his third of the 2024 season and the 10th of his MLS career while tying his career high for the season. The assist was credited to Omar Campos for his third of the season.
It’s now been five games in a row where LAFC has not won a match, but the club will be playing in the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup next Wednesday, September 25 against Sporting Kansas City.
