LAFC vs Colorado Rapids – June 29, 2024
Mateusz Bogusz recorded his first MLS career hat trick in the LAFC vs Colorado Rapids 3-0 victory on Saturday, making him the sixth LAFC player to have done so in an MLS regular season game. Bogusz now joins Adama Diomande, Carlos Vela, Cristian Arango, Denis Bouanga, and Diego Rossi as the Black and Gold jerseys to have the honor.
In the 20th minute of the match, Bogusz found his first score with a pass from teammate Bouanga as both players rushed down the midfield. Ilie Sanchez first found Bouanga with a right footed pass down the line, and then Bouanga quickly delivered to Bogusz in the goal area who put LAFC up 1-0.
Bouanga himself had a few good looks at the back of the net, but one was deflected early on in the second half by Colorado Rapids defender Keegan Rosenberry. The ball rolled right into the direction of Bogusz who fired a left-footed strike past Rapids goalkeeper Zack Steffan to double the lead and credit Bogusz with the brace.

Matty wasn’t done just yet. A setup play by LAFC’s Timothy Tillman and Kei Kamara gave Bogusz another opportunity to further the lead, in which he did so in the 72 minute. Bogusz now has 12 goals for the season, with five of those goals coming from just the past two games.
Additionally, Bogusz tied FC Cincinnati’s Luciano Acosta, who recorded a goal across nine straight games earlier this season for the longest run of games with a goal or an assist in Major League Soccer this year.
The chemistry between Bogusz and Bouanga has been nothing but spectacular as the two have combined to score 25 goals this season, with both players reaching double digit goals.
LAFC stays unbeaten at home in 2024 and will play against hometown rivals LA Galaxy on Thursday, July 4 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena.
