Just three minutes into LAFC vs Austin FC game, it appeared that ATX have hit the ground running as Sebastián Driussi beat LAFC goalkeeper Tomás Romero with a beautiful low finish. The play ended up being considered offsides due to ATX midfielder Cecilio Dominguez’s positioning.
A big opportunity for LAFC came on the 24’, where MLS Player of the Week Cristian Arango made a laser attempt at the goal only to be saved by ATX goalkeeper Brad Stuver, who quickly got down to disrupt the ball. It wasn’t until the 59th minute where the LAFC Columbian got his second chance with a penalty kick thanks to the Video Assistant Referee that showed Austin midfielder Diego Fagundez’s arm hitting the ball on LAFC Moon-Hwan Kim’s shot inside the box.
About 8 minutes after LAFC’s lead, Fagundez followed up for a rebound equalizer right after Dominguez’s shot off the right post. ATX had an opportunity to take the lead in the 79th minute with Alex Ring’s shot but ATX’s midfielder was just off by a few inches. LAFC then subbed in Musovski for Marco Farfan. Even after a big effort from forward Moussa Djitte, ATX was unable to tie up the match.
