The 2022 MLS Best XI Selection Is Here!
Presented by Continental Tire, Major League Soccer and LAFC unveiled the 2022 MLS Best XI selections, containing a list of outstanding players from the 2022 MLS regular season and one of the most prestigious awards across the league.
Only the most entertaining players in the MLS can be honored as part of the 2022 MLS Best XI selection, which awards the league’s finest players at each position as selected by MLS players, MLS club staffs, and the media. This collection of 11 talents includes six players who were chosen for their first Best XI, with players from seven different countries and six different teams, all of which made it to the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.
For the third time in the last five seasons, Carlos Vela has been selected to the Best XI after helping LAFC win the 2022 MLS Supporters’ Shield. This was the Mexican footballer’s third season with at least double-digit goals and assists, recording 12 goals and 12 assists in 2022. He also set LAFC franchise records with 12 assists and 68 key passes for a club that matched for the third-most victories in a season since 2000, with 21.
Only five players in the current state of the league have been selected for three Best XI teams, and Vela is the only Mexican player in MLS history to achieve this accolade. Check out the rest of the Best XI winners below.
